About Michaela Korte Music:
Hi, I’m Michaela! I just finished my fifth year of teaching general music to PreK-5th grade students in the public school system. Next school year, I will be starting a new adventure of teaching middle school choir. (Wish me luck!)
My love for music started early in my childhood, first as a singer and later as a pianist. In middle school, I started playing the trumpet, and I continued playing in the band throughout high school and college. During college, I developed passions for composing, ethnomusicology, percussion (especially steel pan!), and the ukulele. I graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Instrumental Music Education, and I am certified to teach music to students in Kindergarten all the way up to 12th grade.
As a composer, I’m passionate about creating music that fosters collaboration and brings students together in unique ways, such as a piece of music that calls for an elementary Ukulele Ensemble and a high school concert band. I also enjoy scoring music for ukulele, kalimba, and steel pans (or Jumbie Jams!).
On my Music Education YouTube channel, Michaela Korte Music, I share resources that I’ve created for my music classroom in the hopes that other music educators (or at-home learners) can use them, too!
I’ve also recently picked up the hobby of making decorative charms that go on musical instruments. Check back soon for my first shop launch where I will be selling ukulele charms!
This website is a space where I hope to share original compositions, decorative charms for musical instruments, music education resources, and occasional music-related blog posts. Please feel free to explore at your leisure, and happy playing!
